Classes Offered
Beginner Class
For ages three and “just four” who have not been in preschool previously. One morning per week, on Fridays only. An introductory preschool class: letters, numbers, shapes, and colors are presented in fun learning games, art activities, and field trips.
Pre-Kindergarten
Students may be four or “just five” who are not yet ready for Kindergarten. A choice of twice/week classes on Monday and Wednesday, or Tuesday and Thursday. Kindergarten readiness skills are taught in the following areas: Bible, pre-reading phonics, letter recognition, number recognition, writing, and listening skills. Five local field trips are planned: a fire station; grocery store; post office; dentist; Lions Park; and the Marine Science Center.
Pre-Kindergarten-Transition
Uniquely designed for those developmentally-mature students returning to preschool, who are not yet ready for Kindergarten, or who have just missed the September 1 “Kindergarten cut-off date." Three sessions are held weekly and a Kindergarten curriculum is used, combined with advanced Pre-K academics. Six local field trips are planned: a fire station; grocery store; post office; dentist; the Manor Farm; and the Marine Science Center.

Paula Michelsen - Director/Head Teacher,
Friday Morning Class
Paula Michelsen has taught preschool for 26 years: one year with the Olympic College Cooperative Program, and 25 years at North Kitsap Preschool. An RN, Paula earned two degrees from Stanford University: a Bachelor of Arts degree in Child Psychology, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing. She and her husband, Joe, and two children have lived in Poulsbo and have attended Christ Memorial Church for over 20 years.
Jenny Lindquist - Pre-Kindergarten Head Teacher

Jenny Lindquist is an experienced Preschool Teacher. She spent several years as an Early Childhood Day Care and Sunday School Teacher. Jenny joined the Preschool staff fifteen years ago. She has a B.A. degree from Northwest College. Jenny resides in Poulsbo with her husband, David, and has attended Christ Memorial Church since 1985.

Mrs. Tina Johnston teaches our T-TH Pre-K classes, having earned her Child Development Associate (CDA) credential and having taught over 8 years with the Kindercare Organization. Ms. Tina and her family make their home in Poulsbo and attend Christ Memorial Church.
School Closures
North Kitsap Preschool will close when North Kitsap School District closes. If North Kitsap School District is open but with a late arrival, North Kitsap Preschool will remain open. Closures or delays will be announced on:
